Woden

Alright, it has been a long time coming....

The story of Odin's sacrifice on the world tree for nine days, Geri & Freki, Hugin & Munin + more. This image can be purchased asap at Red Bubble (see sidebar), or I will be custom printing t-shirts and posters and perhaps an apron or two for the master chefs, all of which should be ready for May 24th weekend.

Nice work, CC. So much detail! I like that bird on the right, who appears to be mocking the wolves below. What do the letters/symbols in the circle say?

LGS... nice to hear from you :)

KATN... Thank you! The story of Odin is as follows - He hung himself on the world tree for 9 days. He also pierced himself with a spear. After the 9 days he found the runes. The runes around the circle as depicted here are the elder Futhark... just basically all of the runes. There are no words spelled. The 2 birds are Odin's ravens, Hugin & Munin, thought and memory. They can see all things happening in the world for him. The two wolves are Geri and Freki, Odin's wolves. Their names basically mean the same thing 'ravenous'. Some think they represent his hunger for knowledge. There is plenty of info out there if you want a further explanation... just google Odin's sacrifice. Oh and by the way, these stories come from the Icelandic Eddas written in 1300 (ish)!

Have a great day!

Hello, I just received this shirt in the mail and I am very very pleased! The knotwork is absolutely beautiful and I'm thrilled. Please continue to make more shirts for I am happy to patronize such fabulous work.

Well thank you for purchasing a shirt and your kind words!'

I've started printing them myself and I think the design on the shirt is probably larger than you'd get at Red Bubble.

Check back again as I'll keep on making them!

Waes Hael,

Camille

So you are an artist too! Why the obsession with death?

Oh well that is a conversation that would require a certain amount of coffee and/or a good dark beer ;)

To start off though, I'd say its because I consider it attempting to create a balance in a world of overly fluffy rainbow bunny infestated polarized thinking... namely to counter the damage the Christian moralists have done.

If you feel a desire to run, I'd not blame you :)
